Paraglider airlifted to hospital after tree fall

A paraglider has been airlifted to hospital after crashing into a tree in Shropshire.

The man, in his 50s, was discovered by ambulance crews under a tree at the junction of the A49 and Ludlow Road in Church Stretton at 1250 BST.

His harness and canopy were caught up in the tree branches and he is believed to have fallen 20 feet (6.1 metres) while attempting to climb down.

He was airlifted to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with leg and pelvic injuries.
