Charles Green murder: man arrested

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an 87-year-old Shropshire man.

The 23-year-old is being questioned over a fatal attack on Charles Green at his home in Oswestry on 2 May.

Mr Green, of Ambleside Road, died in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on 2 June. He had suffered head, hip and arm injuries.

Police have refused to confirm whether the total of four arrests in the inquiry involve four different men.

Two men were arrested on the day of the incident.

Police said one has made a preliminary appearance before Shrewsbury Crown Court charged with entering Mr Green's home as a trespasser and subjecting him to violence.

He is currently remanded in custody.

The second man has been on police bail pending further inquiries but police refuse to say if he is the same man who has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Last week, a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail.
