Shropshire bridge to be closed for a month

A Shropshire bridge has closed to vehicles for four weeks to allow the brook it crosses to be restored.

Woodfield Bridge carries the Claverley to Upper Ludstone Road over the Claverley Brook on the outskirts of the village of Claverley.

Shropshire Council said the closure was required to enable work to be carried out to repair the eroded bed of the brook under the bridge.

The bridge will remain open for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.

Traffic will be diverted via the A458, A454 and B4176 roads via Upper Farmcote, Bridgnorth and Rudge Heath.

Councillor Simon Jones, Shropshire Council's cabinet member for transport, said: "We appreciate that this work may cause some inconvenience.

"Every reasonable effort will be made to complete it and reopen the road as soon as possible."
