Cameras coming to Hodnet after speeding complaints

Speeding drivers are being targeted in a Shropshire village after complaints from residents.

A "community concern" speed enforcement site is being launched in Hodnet on 1 August.

The mobile speed camera will be operating in Shrewsbury Street to enforce the 30mph limit.

Data collected by the Safer Road partnership showed 64% of vehicles broke the speed limit and 15% travelled at more than 40mph.

Katy Jenkins of the Safer Roads Partnership in the West Mercia area said residents were concerned about the speed of traffic through the village and particularly past the school at drop off and pick up times.

"The data we collected shows an enforceable speeding problem and we are launching a new speed enforcement site in direct response to the concerns of local people," she said.
