Teenager jailed for raping woman near Stafford Park

A man has been ordered to serve at least 39 months in jail for the rape of a woman near a Shropshire park.

Jamie Findlater, 19, of Doddington in Telford, was convicted at Shrewsbury Crown Court of three counts of rape and one of robbery in May.

The victim in her 20s was attacked as she walked to Randlay from Stafford Park in August 2009.

Det Sgt Mark Jones, of West Mercia Police, praised the victim and her family for their patience and dignity.

"This is a very satisfactory result, which I hope provides some comfort to the victim," he said.

"In giving Findlater an indeterminate sentence, the judge recognised that this man poses a significant threat to the community and he will therefore remain in prison until he has come to terms with his offending."
