Some parking charges increase in Whitchurch

Some parking charges will increase in a Shropshire town from next week following a review across the county.

The new charges will be introduced in Whitchurch on Monday "to make parking charges fairer", Conservative-controlled Shropshire Council said.

It added two sites, Brownlow Street and Newtown car parks, would be free for an hour and cost 10p for two hours while Sherrymill Hill would be free all day.

Whitchurch will be the final Shropshire market town to implement new charges.

The charges starting in Whitchurch on Monday will apply seven days a week from 08:00 to 18:00 BST.

Season tickets exist and residents permits for some streets where there is no on-street parking are available.

The most expensive car parks over two hours will be Castle Hill and Pepper Street, with both charging 50p for up to one hour and £1 for up to two hours.
