Straw is destroyed in Shropshire field fire

Fire has destroyed approximately 2,000 tonnes of straw in a field in Shropshire.

The blaze, involving baled straw at Howle, near Newport, was reported at about 22:20 BST on Wednesday.

Appliances from Newport, Hodnet, Market Drayton and Wellington attended as well as a water carrier from Bridgnorth.

It took firefighters using four pumps and a water bowser about five hours to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
