Wrekin Housing Trust awarded £6.5m grant

The Wrekin Housing Trust has been awarded £6.5m to fund more than 320 new affordable houses in Shropshire.

It said the grant, from the government's Affordable Homes Programme, would mainly be used to build properties in rural areas.

The Telford-based social landlord said it was planning to build 1,000 affordable homes across the county over the next four years.

There are about 20,000 people currently on the trust's waiting list.
