Two pedestrians injured in Telford collision

Two elderly pedestrians were seriously injured when they were hit by a car in Telford.

Emergency services were called to the ring-road, near Telford Ice Rink, at about 15:15 BST on Sunday.

A police spokesman said the pedestrians, a man and a woman aged 84 and 70, were taken to hospital with multiple injuries.

The woman was airlifted to hospital and the man was taken by road. The female car driver was not injured.

A police spokesman said the woman was driving her red Nissan along the three lane road, at Lawn Central, when she struck the pedestrians as they attempted to cross the road.

Both the victims are currently in a serious but stable condition.

Police, who closed the road for four hours after the incident, have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
