Clun Bridge closed to repair vehicle damage

A Shropshire bridge has been closed to allow repairs to be carried out after it was hit by a vehicle.

Clun Bridge, which carries the A488 over the River Clun, will be closed for up to a week.

A spokesman for Shropshire Council, which is carrying out the work, said the repair will involve taking down and rebuilding the downstream parapet.

While the work is being carried out the bridge will be closed to traffic and signed diversions put in place.

Steve Price, environment group manager, said the repairs were "necessary for safety reasons and every reasonable effort will be made to reopen the bridge to traffic as soon as possible".
