Thieves cut live overhead cables near Market Drayton

Thieves have cut live overhead power cables between two pylons in Shropshire.

They stole about 500m (1,640ft) of copper cable after climbing up to cut the lines in a field at Pipe Gate, near Market Drayton.

It happened between 22:00 GMT on Wednesday and 07:00 GMT on Thursday morning.

West Mercia Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for information.
