Shrewsbury crash: Three hurt when car leaves road

Three people were injured after the car they were in left the road and ended up in a field in Shrewsbury.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to a field about 40m from the road off Robert Jones Way, in Battlefield, shortly after 02:00 GMT.

A man and a woman, believed to be in their 20s, were freed by the fire service and taken to hospital.

A man in his 50s, who was out of the car when paramedics arrived, was also taken to hospital.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said the man in his 50s had suffered abdominal and arm injuries.

She said the woman suffered chest injuries and the other man had a head injury and multiple minor injuries.
