Work to improve footbridge lighting after 'concerns'

Work to improve lighting on a Shropshire footbridge is to be carried out because of concerns about safety.

Telford and Wrekin Council said people had voiced concerns about using the crossing in Wellington in the dark.

It said the Orleton Lane Foot Bridge would have new lights and overhanging vegetation cut back with money from a new community fund.

Councillor Shaun Davies said the aim was to get the work done "before the end of the year".

"It should make the crossing a lot safer for people," the council cabinet member for environment, co-operative council and partnerships said.
