Teenager found dead in grain silo on Brockton farm
An 18-year-old man has been found dead in a grain silo on a Shropshire farm.
Emergency crews were called to the farm in Brockton, near Much Wenlock, on Wednesday.
Paramedics said there was nothing they could do to save him. Police said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has started an investigation. An inquest is due to be opened and adjourned on Friday.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the property at about 21:00 GMT on Wednesday.
"Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the man found at the address and he was confirmed dead at the scene," a spokesman said.
Neighbour Simon Brown said: "We're all very upset about it all. The whole neighbourhood is devastated.
"It's very hard to accept that such a lovely young man died that way. A lot of relations and friends will be very supportive of them at this terrible time.
"They were a very well respected family in the area and everyone loved them and wants to do everything they can to support them. It's a very difficult Christmas for them obviously."
John Mercer, speaking on behalf of the National Farmers Union, said the "thoughts, condolences and the deepest sympathies of the farming community are with his family and friends at this time".
