Three men have been charged with murdering a 23-year-old Shrewsbury man.

Jason Scott Cooke, of Sutton Farm, died from stab wounds on Tuesday.

Seven men were arrested following an incident at Monkmoor recreation ground in Shrewsbury. Four have been released on conditional bail.

The three men charged with murder, all aged 24, will appear before a special sitting of Telford magistrates on Saturday, West Mercia Police said.

The three have also been jointly charged with burglary of a property in Abbots Road, Monkmoor, on Tuesday.

Mr Cooke died shortly after arriving at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on 27 December.

Police said the incident at the recreation ground in the town just after 18:00 GMT involved up to 20 young men and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
