Met Office removes severe weather warning in Shropshire

A severe weather warning is no longer in place for Shropshire after the county avoided much of the heavy snowfall that hit parts of the UK.

The Met Office said 2cm (0.8) of snow had fallen at Shawbury by 02:00 GMT.

Parts of the M54 were closed on Saturday with junction six proving problematic for shoppers leaving the Wrekin Retail Park in Telford.

Temperatures were expected to reach -1C overnight with mist and fog likely in Telford, according to the Met Office.
