Darwin's garden at The Mount opens for scientist's birthday

The childhood garden of Charles Darwin is being opened to the public to celebrate his birthday.

The naturalist was born in 1809 in The Mount, which overlooks Shrewsbury, and includes a walled garden, woodland and river.

Now privately owned, a section of the garden is being opened on Sunday to celebrate 203 years since his birth.

Students from Harper Adams University College are organising tours of the garden.

The garden will open from 10:00 GMT until 14:00 GMT on Sunday.
