Ice warnings for Shropshire roads

A weather warning remains in force in Shropshire, with temperatures expected to stay around freezing throughout Friday.

Emergency services have warned drivers to be careful after overnight rain led to ice on roads.

Telford and Wrekin Council and Shropshire Council sent gritters out overnight and said they would monitor the situation on Friday.

Police said there had been several accidents on untreated routes.

Incidents on Arlaston Lane near Manor Rise in Telford and on the A5 near St Georges have both cleared and there are not thought to be any injuries.

There were no school closures in the county, although Clee Hill Primary in south Shropshire opened late to allow the roads to clear.
