A man who disappeared after having an operation to remove a package of cocaine from his body is to be featured on a Crimewatch TV appeal.

Robert Gamble, 53, went missing from the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in January 2011.

Police said Mr Gamble, who is wanted over suspected drug offences, discharged himself after the operation and had not been seen since.

He is thought to be living in the Croydon or Brighton areas.

CCTV footage of Mr Gamble, who was found with cocaine with a street value of £8,000, is due to be shown on BBC One's Crimewatch at 21:00 GMT.
