Coach calls for Telford Disability Games to be annual

The coach of a football team involved in a Shropshire disabled sports tournament hopes the event will become an annual fixture.

The Telford Disability Games, which comprises a range sports, was organised to raise awareness of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The event began at Oakengates Leisure Centre and runs until Sunday.

Ian Preece, who is involved with Club 2000 in the town, said: "Hopefully we'll get it annually."

"It'll be a really good showcase for disabled talent in Telford," Mr Preece added.

"Not just talent, but for anybody who wants to come down and involve themselves in new sports."

Among the activities on offer are boccia, tennis and touch rugby.
