RAF Shawbury plans to host 10K race

Plans have been unveiled for a new race which will take runners across an RAF base in Shropshire.

A total of 2,000 places will be available for the 10km race being held at RAF Shawbury on 7 July.

The route will take competitors along the base's mile-long runway and past hangars and display aircraft. Any funds raised will go to the Severn Hospice.

The race is expected to be opened by a parachute display by the RAF Falcons display team.

Race organiser Sgt Stick Ballard said he hoped it could become an annual event.
