Woman trapped under car in Shrewsbury airlifted to hospital

A woman in her 80s has been airlifted to hospital after she was run over by a car in Shropshire.

The incident happened on Cathedral Town Walls in Shrewsbury at about 10:30 GMT when the woman became trapped under the vehicle, the fire service said.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service had to use lifting gear to release her.

She was flown to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, with a broken leg, suspected fractured pelvis and head injuries.
