Shrewsbury A5 reopens after hay fire

The A5 outside Shrewsbury has reopened after a lorry carrying hay earlier caught fire.

The blaze started shortly before midday and Shropshire Fire and Rescue said it had taken three crews and other units about two and a half hours to deal with.

The northbound carriageway was closed between the junctions with the B4386 and A458 for more than seven hours.

There were also heavy delays southbound.
