Firefighters rescued a cow which had fallen in a river - in front of crowds at the Shrewsbury Flower Festival.

The Aberdeen Angus cow was found by its farmer trapped in the River Severn and fire crews were called to the Shrewsbury School Boat House at about 09:40 BST.

A vet sedated the animal, which was then winched out of the water.

A fire service spokesperson said a loud cheer was heard from the show crowd as the cow was lifted to safety.
