Shrewsbury search extended for sex attacker of girl, 10

Police hunting a teenage boy thought to be responsible for a serious sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl in Shrewsbury, have widened their search after a series of sightings.

The victim was lured to a disused area near the Arc car wash on St Michael's Street at 15:30 BST on Friday.

Police said a boy had asked for her help to find something he had lost.

Officers said they were extending their search to the Greenfields area after a number of calls from the public.

Det Ch Insp Neil Jamieson, leading the investigation for West Mercia Police, said fresh information indicated the suspect was around the New Park Road and St Michael's Street area from 12:30.

He said the suspect, a youth aged about 13 to his late teens, was believed to have been carrying a fishing rod and tackle box.

The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a light and dark hooped pattern jumper with jeans or light blue trousers.
