A woman has died and a 10-year-old child has been seriously injured in a crash in Shropshire.

Their car hit a tree and ended up in a ditch near the Horseshoe Inn pub, in Uckington, Shrewsbury, at about 11:30 BST on Saturday, police said.

The driver, in her 60s, was killed. The boy had to be cut free from the car and was airlifted to hospital with serious leg and abdominal injuries.

West Mercia Police said it wanted to hear from any witnesses to the crash.

PC Dan Yates said: "We are particularly keen to hear from the occupants of a small electric blue car, possibly a Peugeot 206.

"We are also trying to locate the driver of a green three-door Suzuki Swift with the letters NAW or NAM in the registration."
