Man arrested over Oswestry skate park death

A 38-year-old man has been arrested after the death of a man at a Shropshire skatepark at the weekend.

Matthew Jones, 20, from Johnstown, near Wrexham, was at the park in Oswestry, on Saturday.

He was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where he died. A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out in the next few days.

A man from Oswestry has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and of supplying class A drugs.

West Mercia Police said the 38-year-old was being questioned by officers.

Ch Insp Tom Harding described it as a "tragic incident" and called for anyone who was at the event at the skate park in on Rednal Industrial Estate in the early hours of Saturday morning to contact officers.
