'Cannabis plants' found in empty flats in Newport

About 200 suspected cannabis plants have been found in two derelict flats in Shropshire.

Police raided the properties in Chetwynd End in Newport just after 14:00 GMT on Tuesday.

West Mercia Police said it understood the properties had been unoccupied for more than six months and it was trying to trace the former occupants.

No-one has been arrested. Fully grown cannabis plants have a potential street value of up to £1,000 each.
