Bridgnorth farmer dies after kicked by cow

A farmer has died after being kicked in the neck by one of his cows, the National Farmers Union has confirmed.

Keith Preece, in his early 60s, was injured while loading cows on to a trailer at the family farm near Bridgnorth, in Shropshire, last week.

He was airlifted to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with a suspected head injury, where he later died.

Richard Yates, county chairman of the NFU, described Mr Preece as a hard-working man.

He said Mr Preece had been looking forward to spending his retirement with his wife and family.

An inquest is due to be opened into the death.
