A 62-year-old man has admitted making 11 wine bottle petrol bombs at his Shropshire home.

Anthony Lee Orwell, of Market Drayton, threatened to ignite the mixture of petrol and two-stroke engine oil during a stand-off with police on 8 September 2014.

He pleaded guilty to making an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose at his home in Victoria Wharf.

He is due to be sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on 24 April.

Orwell, who initially denied the charge but changed his plea, was remanded in custody while psychiatric reports are prepared.
