Woman dies in car and lorry crash in Shropshire

A woman has died in a crash between a car and a lorry on a Shropshire road.

The collision happened at about 15:45 BST on the A529 in Lockley Wood, Market Drayton, West Mercia Police said.

An 80-year-old woman died at the scene after having a cardiac arrest and a man, 81, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The woman had been a passenger in the car and the 81-year-old was the car driver. The lorry driver was treated for minor injuries.

The A529 was closed between Lockley Wood and Mount Pleasant while recovery teams dealt with the crash.
