Shropshire canoeist rescued after River Severn search

A man has been pulled out of tangled branches in the River Severn after a "dramatic" 20-minute search.

West Midlands Ambulance Service carried out the search after a canoe carrying two men capsized at about 11:30 BST near Hampton Loade, Shropshire.

The man rescued from the river had suffered a cardiac arrest and was airlifted to hospital.

The other man, in his 60s, made his way to safety and was being treated for hypothermia.
