Shop sign falls on to baby in pram in Newport

A sign hanging outside a shop has fallen 20ft (6m) on to a baby in a pram.

The 10-month-old boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries to his head and legs after the incident St Mary's Street in Newport, Shropshire, at 13:40 BST.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "The pram appears to have taken the bulk of the force."

A spokesman said the baby was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

He added: "His mother was understandably very distressed by what had happened, but was also, fortunately unhurt.

"When you consider what might have happened, they are both very lucky."
