The disappearance of a man who was last seen almost six months ago is being treated as suspicious, say police.

Russell Blent, 35, was last seen on 17 March near his home in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, Shropshire and was reported missing on 9 April.

Mr Blent has failed to complete a number of routine tasks, prompting concern for his safety, police said.

Det Ch Insp Neil Jamieson, of West Mercia Police, said the disappearance was "completely out of character".

"We have real concerns about what has happened," he said.

"We know he has failed to do the things he would normally do, such as collect his benefits or attend various locations as a part of his daily routine.

"We have been in regular contact with Russell's parents and they are desperate to find him and establish what has happened."
