Rebuilding work starts at Bridgwater schools
Work to rebuild three schools in Bridgwater, Somerset, that previously faced uncertainty has started.
The government withdrew funding for the Building Schools for the Future Programme in July.
But in August, Education Secretary Michael Gove gave the go-ahead to the projects at Chilton Trinity, Elmwood and Robert Blake schools.
The formal contract between the council and builders was signed last week.
The work, which is being undertaken by BAM PPP is expected to be completed by October 2012.
A Somerset County Council spokesman said the construction would bring "significant employment opportunities".
