Chippenham man arrested after Bath twins lose cash

A 20-year-old man from Chippenham has been arrested after the life savings of a pair of elderly twin brothers from Bath were stolen.

A police spokesman said two men offered to paint the 85-year-old victims' garden shed earlier this month.

They sprayed it with what is now thought to be water, charging £1,200.

Later, the brothers realised cash had been taken from the house, in the Lower Weston area. The pair lost more than £8,000 in total.

Avon and Somerset police said the man has been bailed pending further investigations.

They appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
