Resurfacing work starts in Weston-super-Mare

Work to resurface a road in Weston-super-Mare has begun.

Oldmixon Road in Hutton will remain open for the first two weeks of the £70,000 scheme, and temporary traffic lights will be in place.

The road will be closed from 18 to 22 October to allow the resurfacing to take place.

A spokesman for Conservative-run North Somerset Council said access to properties in the closed section would be maintained "as far as possible".

A signed diversion route will be in place, he added.

Councillor Elfan Ap Rees said: "This is an important route for Hutton residents and for emergency access to Weston Hospital from the east of the district.

"Consequently I am pleased we are now able to programme these repairs from this year's budget before expected government cuts kick in."
