RNLI crew rescue woman from mud at Weston-super-Mare

Lifeboat crews have rescued a woman who had become stuck in the mud at Weston-super-Mare.

RNLI crews were alerted in the early hours of Friday after reports to Swansea Coastguard that the woman had been spotted walking out to sea.

An RNLI spokesman said two crew members managed to free the woman from the mud close to the water's edge.

"She was taken to the lifeboat station on Birnbeck Island before being handed to paramedics," he added.

It is the second time in 24 hours that the lifeboat has been launched after reports of people at risk in the sea.
