Somerset family plays theme tunes on junk
A musical Somerset family has achieved national fame for playing television theme tunes on household junk.
The Sydenhams, from Bruton, first came up with the idea when they were asked to perform a novelty item at a Christmas concert in their town.
John and Clare, and their sons Floyer, 15, and Faelen, 11, have gone on to play on Chris Evans' breakfast show on BBC Radio 2.
They are now practising for an appearance on ITV1's This Morning.
Their home-made instruments range from copper heating pipes to a vacuum cleaner.
Mrs Sydenham said: "I've got a degree in music and I do a lot of arranging for brass ensembles and pantomimes, so junk is not that unusual for me.
"I just thought it would be a fascinating idea and I think the audiences enjoy it because it looks so great and it's so unusual getting sounds out of things you wouldn't normally expect to get music from."
