Somerset council wants to build eco show homes

A Somerset council says building two environmentally friendly show homes will help it meet its climate change targets.

Taunton Deane Borough Council said the homes must be built to the highest possible sustainable standards.

The three bedroom properties would be built on Churchill Way in Taunton. One would be owned by the council and the other by a social landlord.

The council said the homes would help it reduce its carbon emissions.

The Conservative-led authority said this was one of its key aims.

The build cost would be shared between the council and the social landlord.

The plans are to be debated at a council meeting on Tuesday.
