Novice caver rescued from Goatchurch Cavern

A first-time caver has been rescued from a Somerset cavern after she spent three hours trapped there after dislocating her knee.

An ambulance spokesman said the 18-year-old, who was part of a group from Dorset, slipped in Goatchurch Cavern at Burrington Combe.

Emergency services reached her about 100m into the 750m-long cavern.

Great Western Ambulance Service said paramedics managed to relocate her knee in the cave.

A team from Avon Fire and Rescue Service lifted her out before she was taken Weston General Hospital.
