Yeovil half marathon attracts 650 runners

More than 650 runners have taken part in Yeovil's first ever half marathon.

The 13-mile race started and finished at Yeovil Town football ground.

Race director Steve Elliot said: "Overall, from the feedback from the athletes at the finish and the amount of support around the course, it was a complete success."

Organisers hope to establish the race as an annual fixture in Yeovil with the support of the local authorities and its partner Yeovil Town football club.

"The next meeting will be to establish our partners at Yeovil Town football club are completely happy with what we've done," said Mr Elliot.

"I had conversations with the local authorities and they're completely happy to move the event forward into next year."
