Refurbishment of flooded Midsomer Norton Library starts

Work to refurbish a flood-hit library in North Somerset is starting now that the concrete floor has dried out.

Burst heating pipes flooded Midsomer Norton Library during the Christmas closure.

A spokesman for Bath and North East Somerset Council said it anticipated the library would reopen in time for the summer.

About 300 books worth £4,000 were destroyed and need to be replaced, as do the carpet and furniture.

Radstock Library will keep its extended opening hours as long as Midsomer Norton is closed.
