Tyres and cars destroyed in Radstock scrapyard fire

Fire has badly damaged a motor salvage yard in Radstock, Somerset.

Avon fire crews were called to the Hall scrapyard in Coombend, just before 1800 BST on Monday evening.

Half an acre (2,000 sq m) of tyres, four scrap vehicles and a dump truck were destroyed in the blaze.

The site was being re-inspected on Tuesday morning to ensure it was safe. "We were there for some considerable time as the fire was quite deep seated," a fire service spokesman said.
