Police hope Taunton park base will deter trouble-makers

Police are setting up a base in a Somerset park to try to stop anti-social behaviour and vandalism.

Historically, officers said, Taunton's Victoria Park and surrounding housing areas have been affected by incidents of trouble.

Officers said they hoped the new outreach post, at the park's Pavilion, would deter trouble-makers.

Regular beat surgeries are to be held at the base to make officers more accessible to the public.

It was hoped their presence would make the park "a more inviting environment for families and young people", Avon and Somerset police said.
