Pilot injured in helicopter crash near Glastonbury

The pilot of a small helicopter which crashed landed close to Glastonbury in Somerset has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

Emergency services were called to an area close to Cinnamon Lane - to the south east of the town at 1420 BST.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said the craft came down in an open area and no-one else was injured.

"Officers are preserving the scene and air accident investigators are travelling to the crash site," he said.

"The pilot who was the only occupant on board was airlifted to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital for treatment to his injuries," the force spokesman added.
