Man held as woman's body is found at Kewstoke property

A man is being held by police after a woman's body was discovered and another man was found injured at a property in North Somerset.

Emergency crews were called to the address in Crookes Lane, Kewstoke, near Weston-super-Mare, just after 1200 BST.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said the body was discovered in a property next to the Royal Oak stores.

The injured man, believed to have fallen from an upstairs window, suffered life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital by air ambulance for treatment to serious head injuries.

The police spokesman said officers had responded swiftly to what appears to have been an isolated incident.

"A number of officers are engaged in this investigation which is in its very early stages.

"The scene is being painstakingly searched and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious around noon today [Tuesday], in Crookes Lane, to contact detectives."
