Somerset man, 79, accused of murdering wife given bail

A 79-year-old man from Somerset accused of killing his wife has been granted conditional bail at Exeter Crown Court.

Malcolm Beardon, of Churchfields, Wellington, is charged with murder of his wife Margaret, 78, at their home on 15 July.

He had been remanded in custody by magistrates in Taunton but a judge released him on conditional bail during the Crown Court hearing on Wednesday.

Mr Beardon is due to appear again at the court on 7 November.
