Hovercraft rescues three women from Weston beach

Firefighters have rescued three women and a dog who became trapped in the mud on Weston-super-Mare beach.

The incident happened at 11:53 BST when the tide came in, leaving the group stuck thigh-high in mud between Royal Sands and Weston Pier.

They were spotted by firefighters from Avon Fire and Rescue who were on board the hovercraft for routine training.

Avon Fire and Rescue has reminded people of fast-rising tides along Weston beach. The group were unharmed.
