The executives from China Holidays and the Jinan National Fitness Centre and Sports Bureau were in the county to assess its value to Chinese tourists.

Locations they visited included Wells and Street.

Councillor David Hall of Somerset County Council said: "Somerset has much to offer tourists from all over the world."

The cabinet member for economic development added: "This tour was exclusive to Somerset, and I am optimistic that the experience our guests take home with them will encourage a great many of their countrymen to travel here to this most special of holiday destinations."
